Direct sale from the author with free shipping! Beautiful, new black piece with a gold leaf. This work, a symbol of freedom and equality, captures the spirit of the contemporary woman. La Viandante is the life-size portrait of a traveler of our times: a woman with bright eyes and an intense gaze, made even deeper by bronze pupils, a symbol of inner strength. La Viandante is a woman who walks long distances, often by choice or necessity, and who undertakes a journey without a fixed or predefined destination. She is a symbolic figure that evokes the idea of exploration, discovery, and continuous movement, both physical and spiritual. In the context of the sculpture La Viandante, the title underscores the journey of the modern woman: a path that is not only geographical but existential, made of challenges, achievements, and transformations, reflecting the search for freedom, identity, and parity. The traveler thus becomes a universal archetype of female strength, representing all women in their quest for self-determination and personal growth. The sculpture features an iconic detail: on the lips is engraved the phrase "We should all be feminists" ("Dovremmo essere tutti femministi"), which becomes a visual manifesto for gender issues and equality. The authors, in line with the theme explored in their more recent works, such as The Papess, emphasize gender dynamics and the challenges posed to eliminate patriarchy. The figure is wrapped in a hood decorated with the symbol of the vulva, almost a pin among the hair, a symbol of freedom of choice, while the metallic-toned makeup represents the strength and determination of women. A tribute to those who, despite the opportunities offered by more developed societies, still must fight to assert themselves in leadership and apex roles and to win spaces of respect and recognition, including economic recognition. Materials and sustainability This sculpture is a unique piece, produced in a numbered series of 8 specimens, with 4 artist proofs. As with all Francioni Mastromarino works, sustainability is at the heart of the creative process: innovative materials such as rice husk (rice husk fiber) and scraps of carton are worked with natural binders to create a compact and durable structure. Bronze pupils and a stainless steel hook guarantee its durability and versatility, making it suitable for both indoor and outdoor environments. La Viandante is not merely a sculpture, but a symbol and an altar to the strength and complexity of being a woman today. The sculpture is the result of the synergy between two artists, Francioni and Mastromarino, a couple of art and love who have been working together for about 20 years in their Pietrasanta studio in Tuscany. The chosen materials minimize the pollutant percentage, as does the use of wood shavings as packing filler for shipping. The sculpture is carefully packed in a very sturdy box and shipped by express courier. All our collectors are very satisfied with the robustness of our packaging. With our sculptures we are present in private collections in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Luxembourg, Spain, France, Portugal, Denmark, Austria, USA, Switzerland, Romania, United Kingdom, Poland, and Italy.
