Masterful and vividly colored oil on canvas by the Livornese artist Franco Mazzaccherini. Together with other painter friends, at the start of his career he enjoyed painting from life in the Tuscan countryside, where he captured churches, alleys of Tuscan villages, and daily life scenes in the fields. The move to Fauglia, far from the city’s frenetic pace and noises, and his frequenting of Livorno inspired him to create wonderful and important works that immortalize evocative views of old Livorno, particularly the city’s harbor. In 1973 he held his first solo exhibition at the Bottega d’Arte in Livorno, receiving great critical and public acclaim. The enchanting “strolls” along Livorno’s seafront, rich with colorful figures, the “Baracchina Rossa,” the sea surges at “San Jacopo,” and, last but not least, the historic barges of the Medicean canals now gone. Important notes: - if purchased outside Italy, the buyer will be responsible for handling export procedures and related formalities; - the frame, in excellent condition and wood, is to be understood as a complimentary accessory to the work: complaints about damage to it during shipment will not be accepted; - shipping will be professional, insured, and trackable (the indicated price of 59 euros derives from the average cost of quotes from top national and international shippers, considering factors such as the weight of the work with its heavy frame, large overall dimensions, professional packing, insurance, and various others).
