François Buelens (1850–1934) - Stillleben mit Blumen in Vasen

Still Life with Flowers in Vases – François Buelens (1850–1934) A magnificent, late work by the Belgian painter François Buelens. This oil painting on canvas shows a lush still life of flowers, notable for its dense composition and thick, impasto brushwork. Several vases, including one in Delft style (blue-and-white), are filled with a variety of flowers such as chrysanthemums and dahlias. The work shows Buelens's typical transition from traditional realism to a freer, almost impressionistic brushstroke. Particularly noteworthy is the rear labeling, which dates the work to 1898 and names the place of origin Ostend (Oostende) – a significant center of Belgian art at the time.
