Magnificent commemorative collection tankard in fine pewter, produced by The Franklin Mint / Médaillier Franklin in 1980 to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the prestigious Royal Geographical Society of London, founded in 1830. Model: The Royal Geographical Society Sesquicentennial Tankard – 1980 This remarkable collectible honors the greatest explorers in history and the expeditions that contributed to the discovery and understanding of the world. Made in fine pewter, with high-relief sculpted decorations and a magnificent patinated finish, this tankard features several historically detailed scenes illustrating the exploits of four famous explorers: James Cook, British navigator, during his expeditions to the South Pacific. Roald Amundsen, Norwegian explorer, first man to reach the South Pole. David Livingstone, famous explorer and missionary in Africa.
