Frans VAN GENESEN was born in the Netherlands. In Tilburg in 1887. He studied in The Hague and at the Academy of Visual Arts in Amsterdam. He completed his studies in France, where in 1911 he graduated from the Academy in Paris. Although Dutch, he was mainly active in Belgium and ran several galleries there; including in Blankenberge and Spa. The vast majority of his oeuvre consists of landscape paintings.
