Charming and highly decorative pair of original Brevetti Reguitti folding chairs, made in Italy in the 1950s and presented together in two different sizes. A particularly appealing example of post-war Italian functional design, these two chairs share the same ingenious folding concept while being produced on distinctly different scales. Displayed together, the contrast between the smaller and larger chair creates an unusual and highly characteristic pair. Both chairs are made of beechwood, with slatted seats and backs and articulated wooden frames incorporating the folding mechanism. The construction allows each chair to be folded almost completely flat, making it lightweight, compact and easily transportable. This practical approach to furniture design is characteristic of Brevetti Reguitti, the Italian manufacturer renowned during the post-war period for its cleverly engineered folding, adjustable and space-saving furniture. Both examples retain the original “BREVETTI REGUITTI – MADE IN ITALY” factory marks with the FR monogram, clearly visible on the reverse.
