French school (XIX) - Eglise

Original artwork created with mixed media on paper, depicting an elegant architectural view with a basin and vegetation. The composition centers on a building with classical architecture, topped by a small dome and surrounded by abundant greenery. In the foreground, a basin creates a play of reflections that extends the architecture and vegetation, bringing depth and balance to the composition. The artist combines drawing, wash, and colored highlights, in a subtle palette dominated by browns, ochres, grays, and greens. The freely expressive treatment of the vegetation contrasts with the more precise drawing of the architecture, giving the piece a particularly evocative atmosphere. The work bears a handwritten signature at the bottom right. It is difficult to decipher and could possibly read as “G. Porhuis” / “G. Porhui” or “Fortuny,” though none of these readings can be confirmed with certainty. The work is therefore presented as signed, artist not identified, without formal attribution. Technique: mixed media on paper Subject: architecture and landscape with basin Dimensions: 28 × 24 cm Signature: signed at bottom right, uncertain reading (“G. Porhuis / G. Porhui” or “Fortuny”) Original work The paper and mounting show various traces of aging, including browning, stains, halos, and wear. The photographs allow a precise appreciation of the technique, the signature, and the condition, and are an integral part of the description. Beautiful older work with atmospheric treatment, combining architecture, vegetation, and reflections in a delicate and balanced composition.
