Magnificent large portrait of a woman dating from the 19th century, French School, ca. 1860-1870. The young woman is depicted half-length, dressed in an elegant light dress delicately adorned with red and pink roses. Her styled hair, with long ringlets falling over the shoulders, as well as the softness of her face give this portrait a great deal of charm. Very beautiful harmony of colors, with powdered and pastel tones contrasting with a deep blue-green background. The work on the flesh tones, the gaze, and the details of the dress is particularly delicate. The work bears a signature, unfortunately difficult to decipher. The portrait is presented in its imposing old oval gilded frame, richly worked with several friezes and decorative moldings. Its large size and its framing give it a very beautiful presence when hung. Dimensions with frame: 88 x 75 cm. The whole shows signs of age. The painting has some wear and marks visible in the photographs. The frame also shows gilding wear, cracks, a few dings and losses, particularly at the level of the moldings. These elements are clearly visible in the photos and should be taken into account when purchasing. A very beautiful old and decorative piece, ideal for Napoleon III décor, country house, castle, boudoir, romantic, flea market or cabinet of curiosities.”
