Neoclassical allegorical subject: central seated woman Prudence at the mirror, on the left Justice with a sword, on the right woman with the balance Truth, putto with a shield, dragon suppressing serpents, an angel in flight above with two laurel crowns. Paper dimensions approximately 28 x 22 cm sight; the oval about 24 x 18 cm. Back stamp: Collection Pieces Docteur J.D. Gleize 396 in violet ink, number 396 handwritten. Condition: Drawing in its original state, deteriorated as is common for its age, with paper loss at the top, cracking, foxing stains, creases, traces of old yellowed tape on the back and along the edge on the front, fragile borders and tears. Sold as is for restoration, no restoration attempted, as found behind a modern frame by P.J. Poitevin. Provenance: private collection Herault Le Pouget, found at a flea market in the South of France, comes from the former Dr J.D. Gleize collection of the 19th century.
