Two Art Deco vases with fine silver 1000 overlay – Friedrich Wilhelm Spahr – Germany, ca. 1930 Description: Magnificent pair of antique German Art Deco vases executed in a rare and sought-after apple green and mint green base color, featuring a refined, hand-worked silver overlay. This atelier ensemble may originate from the world-famous silver-galvanization workshop of Friedrich Wilhelm Spahr (Schwäbisch Gmünd, Germany). Large vase (Signed): Signature: Fully marked on the silver base with the Spahr signature, the silver content 1000 (pure fine silver) and studio mark 10. Height: ca. 9.5 cm Weight: 121 grams and is in perfect condition. Small vase: Features: The silver overlay stylistically matches perfectly with the larger vase. This little vase is on the porcelain base bearing factory marks: blind number/form number 4436 and a hand-painted red decor number 495 possibly attributed to Spahr. Silver: Has no visible hallmark on the stand ring, but the silver layer tested positive for silver.
