Fruit spoon - Belle Époque - Louis XVI Revival style - .800 silver

Antique French Silver-Handled Serving Spoon – Belle Époque, circa 1900 An elegant antique French serving spoon dating from the late 19th to early 20th century, circa 1900, featuring a beautifully decorated 800 silver handle and a metal bowl. This refined piece of French tableware is characteristic of the Belle Époque period, when elegance, craftsmanship and decorative detail played an important role in formal dining. Design & Decoration The beautifully shaped silver handle features delicate floral motifs, scrolling foliage, fine vertical fluting and ornamental cartouches, reflecting the influence of the Louis XVI Revival style. The generous, slightly scalloped serving bowl is finished in a warm golden colour and decorated with delicate engraved flowers and foliage. The combination of silver and gold tones creates an attractive contrast, typical of elegant French tableware from this period. Origin & Hallmarks Country: France Period: Belle Époque, circa 1900 Style: Louis XVI Revival Silver fineness: 800/1000 Hallmark: French Minerva hallmark Silversmith: Maker's mark present but not clearly identifiable Materials: 800 silver handle with a gilt metal serving bowl The silver handle has a traditional filled construction, using a resin-like or similar compound to provide strength and securely attach the serving section. Original Use This type of serving spoon was traditionally used for presenting and serving delicate foods such as fruit compotes, preserved fruits, desserts and other sweet specialities. The gold colour surface was particularly suitable for serving acidic foods, as it provided additional protection against direct contact with the underlying metal. Such elegant utensils were often part of refined French dining services and were used during formal meals and special occasions. Dimensions Length: Approximately 22 cm Maximum width: Approximately 8 cm Condition Good antique condition, with signs of age and use consistent with its age. Some surface scratches and wear are visible, particularly on the gilded bowl. Please examine the photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the description. A charming and decorative example of French Belle Époque tableware, combining traditional silversmithing, delicate floral engraving and elegant two-tone finishing. An attractive addition to an antique silver collection or a beautifully appointed dining table. Catawiki or Bpost smart shipping services, tracking and insured. #Exclusiveselectio
