Atmospheric and particularly decorative oil painting on canvas, depicting a richly assembled still life with flowers, fruit and a basket. The composition is dominated by a strong bouquet in pink, reddish-brown and soft purple tones. In the foreground lie citrus fruits and dark grapes, while on the right a woven basket closes the scene. The painter deliberately chose a subdued, almost misty color palette, giving the work a warm and intimate appearance. Especially the flowers are painted with a conspicuously free and expressive brushwork. The lighter brushstrokes stand beautifully against the dark vase and background. The combination of soft gray, warm red-orange fruit and deep purple hues gives the still life a very appealing, classical look. Bottom right the painting is signed, presumably with the initials/name “G. v. Os.” The signature is clearly visible on the original paint surface. A definitive attribution to a specific artist is not made in this sale. The canvas is still on an old wooden keyed frame. The back shows a beautiful natural aging of both canvas and wood, fitting for a work that has existed for quite some time. The painting is offered in the depicted classical wooden frame, whose warm bronze- and gold-like tones fit particularly well with the color palette of the still life. Dimensions of the painting: approximately 50.5 × 37.5 cm. A very attractive work for lovers of classical still lifes, historical painting and atmospheric interiors. Due to its size and the serene composition, the painting is particularly decorative both up close and from a distance. The work is in a lived-in, authentic condition, with signs of aging visible in the photos. The photos are an integral part of the description. The painting has not been recently restored or cosmetically refreshed and thus retains its characterful appearance. Carefully packaged for shipping. Details: - Oil on canvas - Signed bottom right - Canvas size ca. 50.5 × 37.5 cm - Classical still life with flowers, citrus fruit, grapes and basket - Old wooden keyed frame - Includes the depicted frame - Beautiful, warm patina and authentic appearance I would not list the title “G. van Os” on Catawiki as a certain artist, but for example: “Dutch School – Still Life with Flowers and Fruit – signed G. v. Os.” That makes the signature prominent and interesting, without making an unsupported attribution.
