Large in-4 volume, publisher’s purple cloth binding, gilt title on the spine and front cover, color reproduction pasted onto the cover, matching slipcase. French edition, translated from Spanish by Acacia Condès, of this comprehensive history of Spanish painting. Extensive black-and-white and color illustrations, including numerous full-page and inset reproductions. The book covers the major schools and periods of Spanish painting, from the Primitives to the great masters of the 16th, 17th, and 18th centuries, notably El Greco, Ribalta, Zurbarán, Velázquez, Murillo, and Goya. A beautiful art book with a particularly elegant design. Some scuffing and signs of wear on the hardcover; slipcase is scuffed and slightly faded. Interior in good condition.
