The work depicts an elderly Chinese gentleman comfortably seated, with his head gently inclined, a smiling face and a fan in his hands. A composition rich in personality, in which the artist succeeds in conveying serenity, irony and an extraordinary natural expressive quality. Active in the first half of the twentieth century, Hauchecorne distinguished himself for his sculptures devoted to the culture and figures of the Far East, creating works in terracotta and bronze today present on the international collectibles market.
