An as beautiful as rare antique Art Deco tray, designed by the well-known Dutch artist and designer Chris van der Hoef (1875–1933). Van der Hoef designed this characteristic, sleek geometric decoration at the beginning of the 20th century for the German porcelain factory Gebrüder Mehner. The ceramic tile tableau shines with its early abstract modernism with a symmetrical pattern in fresh green and yellow. On the back the tile bears the decor number 1910. The tray is 52 cm wide (47 cm without handles), 31.5 cm deep and 2.5 cm high. The weight is about 1920 grams. The tray is in very good, original condition. The woodwork and the tile have been beautifully preserved. The handles have an authentic, time‑worn patina.
