In-4, navy blue morocco leather, decoration consisting of five double horizontal cold-stamped bands ending in loops and intersecting with three double vertical bands of the same design; at the intersections, Celtic crosses with palladium accents; on the front cover, the book’s title in gold letters scattered throughout the design, spine decorated in the same manner, inner border adorned with a gold fillet, gray moiré lining, edges gilt on endpapers, cover and spine, half-morocco slipcase, case (F. A. Maylander). 44 original color woodcuts by Henry Cheffer. Printed in an edition of 160 copies; this is one of 55 copies on Japanese paper, comprising a series of line drawings printed in black on pearlescent Japanese paper, a series in color on pearlescent Japanese paper, a series of line engravings prior to champlevé, and 3 original signed watercolors.
