German school (XVIII) - Anciano comiendo

Oil on canvas depicting an elderly woman in profile, holding a spoon and a container, following the tradition of the hyperrealist portraits of the German school. The composition clearly recalls the works of Balthasar Denner (1685–1749) for the naturalistic treatment of the aged face, the chiaroscuro, and the meticulous detail. The framed measurements are 70x60 (height x width). The unframed measurements are approximately 57x47. The work comes from a Spanish private collection and retains an old gilded frame. There is a historical report dated in Madrid, January 7, 1973, signed by an academic and art historian, who considered the painting a work by Denner. This report will be handed over to the buyer. However, the attribution has not been confirmed by international auction houses, so the work is offered as belonging to the circle, school, or tradition of Balthasar Denner, and is sold according to the photographs. The work displays notable painting quality, especially in the treatment of the face, hands, and lighting effects. It is an interesting piece for collectors of old German or Baroque painting.
