Getama 460 Butterfly Chairs by Hans Wegner, Set of Two

The GE 460 Butterfly Chair by Hans J. Wegner for Getama is a masterful intersection of organic geometry and traditional Danish woodcraft. This set of two chairs features a broad seat platform that provides a grounded and low-profile aesthetic, defined by the signature wing-like curves of the laminated wood backrest that give the design its namesake silhouette. The design philosophy centers on relaxed ergonomic support, utilizing an open, angled frame that encourages an effortlessly reclined posture. This structural craftsmanship is thoughtfully balanced by upholstered pads in a serene grey fabric, creating a sophisticated floating effect within the warm wood grain. The Butterfly Chair is refined by its precise joinery, honest material usage, and sculptural lightness. It serves as a poised, conversational pair of anchors for expansive modern living spaces or refined reading alcoves, capturing Wegner’s genius for making functional woodworking feel beautifully animated. Condition Notes: The chairs are in good condition. They exhibit only very light, superficial signs of use, remaining structurally sound and well-preserved.
