Magnificent 19th-century French planter manufactured by the renowned **Faïencerie de Gien**, known for the excellence of its ceramic productions and for the mastery of its decorators. The piece features an elegant circular body of ample proportions, conceived both as a functional element for ornamental plants and as a highly decorative object. Its surface unfolds lush hand-painted decoration, executed by specialized artisans of the manufactory, where a refined repertoire of volutes, vegetal motifs and ornamental elements inspired by Renaissance and Baroque repertories develops. The combination of deep cobalt blue tones, golden ochers and white enamels creates an extraordinary chromatic contrast that enhances the visual richness of the whole and highlights the quality of the pictorial execution. Especially notable are the two side reliefs in the form of lion heads, modeled with great expressiveness and sculptural depth. These mascarons, harmoniously integrated into the decoration, add a monumental character to the piece and evoke decorative models of classical tradition widely appreciated in European decorative arts of the 19th century. Their presence gives the planter strength and personality, turning it into a focal point with a strong visual impact. The upper edge is carefully finished with a continuous frieze that frames the main decoration, while the glossy glaze enhances the vividness of the colors and the definition of each ornamental detail. The quality of the ceramic, together with the precision of the reliefs and the richness of the decorative program, reflect the prestige attained by the Gien manufactory during this age of splendor. This is a piece of notable presence and high decorative value, ideal for classic, eclectic or historicist interiors. Its combination of sculpture, painting and craftsmanship makes it a standout example of late 19th-century French artistic ceramic, capable of bringing elegance, distinction and a strong decorative character to any collection or setting. There is an interior crack; it is not a rupture but a sign of patina from the passage of time due to climatic changes over the years. It does not diminish value but adds beauty to the patina. Shipped with certificate and good packaging. #madeinfrance
