Ginger jar - Porcelain - Famille rose

Magnificent and large lidded ginger jar made of Chinese porcelain dating from the late Qing dynasty, circa 1890–1900. This bulbous jar features a very fine decoration entirely hand-painted with enamels from the Rose family. The main face vividly depicts a multicolored pheasant with a long tail, proudly perched on a gnarly branch, a traditional symbol of nobility and wealth. The other face bears a beautiful black calligraphy. In good condition, just a small chip on the inside.
