Gino Ruggeri - Sculpture

It is a sublime tragedy, and Euripides' pen could rightly envy it to your chisel. A monumental work of art that encapsulates the very essence of Italian neoclassical sculpture. This superb artifact, signed by the renowned sculptor Gino Ruggeri from Volterra, faithfully reproduces with absolute emotional fidelity one of the most dramatic and powerful myths of ancient antiquity. The composition captures the moment of maximum tension in which Hercules, driven mad with the pain caused by the tunic soaked in Nessus the centaur's blood, hurls the young herald Lica into the sea. The importance of this work lies in its extraordinary dynamic rendering, inspired by the celebrated monumental work of Antonio Canova housed at the Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Moderna in Rome. Ruggeri's mastery is evident in the ability to balance opposing forces: the Michelangelesque fury of Hercules dramatically contrasts with the inert, suspended body of Lica, while the skin of the Nemean lion at the base still anchors the scene to the myth. Created by combining finest alabaster powder and special resins, the piece possesses a density, translucence, and patina of bygone times that render it indistinguishable from statuary marble. To place this piece in your collection does not merely mean purchasing a decorative object, but owning an eternal symbol of strength, tragedy, and sublime artistic beauty.
