Girard-Perregaux - Laureato - 4266 - Men - 1970-1979

The watch that started the Laureato legend. In 1975, between the Royal Oak and the Nautilus, Girard-Perregaux launched its own steel icon with an integrated bracelet. It was the only one of its generation with its own in-house design and movement. It was the first Swiss quartz chronometer. It was powered by the technology with which GP set the 32,768 Hz frequency, the frequency still used today by quartz watches worldwide. In 1977, 891 out of 1,000 COSC-certified chronometers were from Girard-Perregaux. Hence its nickname: 'il Laureato', the graduate. Today it is hard to find complete and original specimens. This one preserves its Clous de Paris dial, the octagonal bezel, and the integrated bracelet with the GP logo.
