Furthermore, it is characterized by Pyrite crystals with the typical octahedral habit and brilliant golden luster, in clear contrast with the black Magnetite aggregates coating the matrix, elements that increase its aesthetic value and mineralogical significance. The specimen stands out for the quality of crystallization and for its overall aesthetic balance, with features that enhance its natural structure and visual impact. Pyrite (FeS2) owes its characteristic golden color to its iron and sulfur content, while the typical octahedral habit, as in this specimen, is one of the most common crystal forms for the species along with the cube. The Brosso Mine, in the Canavese area of Piedmont, has for centuries been one of the most important iron mines in the Italian Alps, exploited since Roman times for its magnetite and pyrite skarn deposits. Magnetite (Fe3O4), associated here with Pyrite, is the most magnetic iron oxide in nature and has given its name to the magnetism phenomenon itself.
