GREEK GOLD AMPHORA PENDANT

Ca. 400 - 200 BC. A gold amphora-shaped pendant with a globular body decorated with horizontal registers of stamped ornament and a rounded finial below. A pair of dolphins form the handles, their heads turned towards the mouth and their bodies curving down to the shoulder. A suspension ring is set between the dolphins' heads, with a larger ring above. Size: 24mm x 14mm; Weight: 2.4g Provenance: London private collection; ex French art market, 1970s�1980s.
