Gretchen Wohlwill (1878–1962) – Collection of 2 ink pen drawings Work 1: “Windmühlen” – Study for her well-known oil painting of the same name (ca. 15.9 x 21.6 cm) Work 2: Animal study / Bull Technique & condition: Ink pen drawings on paper/machine-made wove paper. On the verso each bear a legacy stamp. Slightly creased and stained due to age (Work 1 with left binder holes). Both works are framed separately. Description: Two expressive sketches by the important Hamburg Secession artist and Matisse pupil Gretchen Wohlwill. The drawings are characterized by their powerful, pared-down line work—from the geometrically dynamic windmill composition to the concise animal portrayal.
