GROUP OF TIBETAN AND INDIAN PRAYER BEADS

Ca. 18th - 19th century AD > A group of Tibetan and Indian prayer-bead strands, comprising beads of differing shapes and colours. One strand is fitted with a circular metal pendant and multiple suspended chains. Prayer beads, or malas, help practitioners count repeated mantras and maintain concentration. The beads thus support a disciplined devotional practice in which repeated speech, focused attention and the accumulation of merit are connected. > > Size: 530-1030mm x 10-115mm; Weight: 600g > Provenance: Private London Collection; Ex.
