GROUP OF TIBETAN VAJRAS (DORJE)

Ca. 17th - 18th century AD > A group of three Tibetan vajra, with moulded grips and curved prongs enclosing the terminals. One example has an elongated openwork body terminating in a circular loop. The vajra, called dorje in Tibetan, is a ritual emblem of the enduring strength of awakened understanding. In tantric ceremonies it represents skilful method and is commonly paired with a bell symbolising wisdom; its meaning depends upon the practice in which it is employed. > > Size: 120-155mm x 30-40mm; Weight: 680g > Provenance: Private London Collection; Ex.
