Guido Antonio Mantovani (1916-1988) - Paesaggio pastorale autunnale con gregge

Splendid and imposing oil painting on canvas by the Italian master Guido Antonio Mantovani (1916-1988), a pupil of the celebrated Angelo Dall'Oca Bianca. The work features a monumental format of 80x150 cm (ideal as a salon masterpiece or above a sofa), and depicts one of the artist's most poetic and sought-after motifs: a suggestive twilight autumn landscape animated by the figure of a shepherd with his flock by the edge of a body of water. The color application is rich and textural, with a palette dominated by warm ocher tones, burnt earth, and decaying greens, typical of the Padana and Venetian post-impressionist tradition. The subdued light and the mist in the background lend an extraordinary lyrical and contemplative atmosphere to the composition. The painting is in generally good condition, with the natural patina and slight age cracks that testify to its authenticity. It is sold with its elegant period silver frame, which magnificently enhances the tones of the work. A magnificent opportunity for collectors of Italian twentieth-century art or for those seeking a prestigious and visually striking decorative element.
