Shipping cost is higher than usual: very large panel, 116 × 100 cm Description of the work Large composition by Gundi Falk, circa 2000, built up with fields of primary colors, black outline and pasted papers. In the bottom left, a blue profile stands out against a yellow background, the eye outlined in gray, the mouth open on white bands. In the center, a red mask with a blue eye faces a large yellow head, while a second red-and-white face occupies the right side. A blue and white bird — or bill — perched in the upper right, white teeth cut out of the black. The red body on the right bears two dark buttons, a white triangle pasted, and a blue-and-white striped collar, also pasted. The background is brushed in black, broad and swift. The collages — white triangle, striped paper, white dot on the yellow, blue wave — break the painted surface and give the whole its assemblage character. The monogram “G” is drawn bottom left; the workshop seal “GUNDI FALK / BRUXELLES” appears on the back. The energy recalls Fernand Léger in the volumes, the black outline and the primary palette, with a more direct, almost playful freedom in the masks and the bird. Former contemporary dancer, Falk translates the body through the rhythm of the gesture rather than through anatomy. Generous format, 116 × 100 cm, a piece of character, strong on a wall. Artist biography Gundi Falk, born in 1966 near Salzburg, Austria, is a versatile visual artist: painter, draftsman, sculptor and former contemporary dancer. Her work explores movement, rhythm, space and organic forms, at the border between abstraction and figuration. Since 2011, she collaborates with experimental photographer Pierre Cordier on chemigrams. Exhibitions (selection): • Hosting, CENTRALE for Contemporary Art, Brussels • David Nash, Pierre Cordier & Gundi Falk: Index and Icon, Haines Gallery, San Francisco (2015) • Variations & Transmutations, Ateliers Mommen / Gallery Angelinna, Brussels (2020) • Galerie Pierre Hallet, Entrelacs, Brussels • Château de Karreveld, L’Abîme du Temps (Biennale of Photography), Brussels • Galerie Marschner, Lebenslinien, Wels (Austria, 2025/26) • RSF - A Mouvable Gallery, Expériences 1#, Paris And numerous solo and group exhibitions in Belgium, France, Greece, Luxembourg and Austria. This composition in primary colors, both architectural and free, will be a true focal point in a contemporary interior. Its generous format, its Léger-like lineage and its Miró-like whim make it a very strong statement piece.
