Descriptio Wood. Dimensions: 50 × 20 × 10 cm. Ritual mask belonging to the sculptural tradition of the Yauré people, characterized by the harmonious fusion of human features with elements of the animal world, in this case through the incorporation of two stylized horns. Gyè masks are notable for the balance between the simplicity of the face and the formal richness of the added sculptural elements, reflecting a high level of abstraction and aesthetic refinement. These pieces were linked to ceremonies and ritual contexts and exerted a significant influence on the artistic traditions of neighboring peoples such as the Baule. Lot in international warehouse (within the EU). Intra-EU shipping: no import duties apply within the EU. An export permit from the country of origin may be required. Due to its age and history of use, this lot may show signs of wear and previous interventions. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, no specialized technical testing has been performed. The absence of any mention of restorations does not guarantee that none exist. You may request additional information before placing a bid. This does not affect the buyer’s statutory rights.
