Handheld ceramic mirror from Vallauris – 1960s Very beautiful and original handheld mirror in French ceramic dating presumably from the 1960s. This piece stands out for its circular form paired with a long ceramic handle, its substantial chamotte-textured body, and its particularly graphic decoration in shades of brown, earth, deep blue, and light gray. The treatment of the material and the incised motifs evoke certain productions by Vallauris ceramists from the 1950s-1960s. The exact attribution remains to be determined. Several possible connections can be made with works by Boris Kassianoff, Albert Thiry, Mithé Espelt, or Les Argonautes. Hand mirrors in ceramic from the 1960s are notably documented under the names Boris Kassianoff and Albert Thiry. A mark or incised inscription is present on the back, but its reading is difficult due to the very pronounced texture of the ceramic. It is photographed in the listing so that collectors and specialists can examine it. This is therefore a particularly interesting piece for a Vallauris ceramic enthusiast, 20th-century art, and French design of the 1960s. Details: Total height: about 30 cm Circular mirror with ceramic handle Strongly textured ceramic / chamotte earth Decoration in brown, earth tones, deep blue, and light gray Mark or incised inscription on the back, difficult to read Estimated period: 1960s French production, probably Vallauris Excellent condition, no breakage or apparent restoration The mirror will be packed with the utmost care to ensure secure shipping. Very carefully prepared professional packaging. IMPORTANT: attribution to a specific artist is not asserted. The names Boris Kassianoff, Albert Thiry, Mithé Espelt, and Les Argonautes are mentioned only as attribution leads due to stylistic, material, and period similarities. The buyer will be able to judge the piece and the photographed mark for themselves.
