This is a Hei Tiki figure, hand-carved from natural bone. The piece showcases classical Māori design principles, featuring a characteristic asymmetrical tilted head, deeply incised concentric eyes, and a prominent openwork torso with relief limbs. The material has a warm honey-brown patina that highlights the natural grain of the bone. Representing an ancestral guardian figure (taonga), this object serves as a high-quality example of indigenous craftsmanship. Dated back to the 3th quarter 20th century or older. Stand is included. It is in excellent, stable condition, no restorations.
