Ca. 300 - 100 BC. A carnelian intaglio engraved with a bust of a lady of fashion in left profile, raising her right hand to her face. Her elaborate coiffure is arranged in layered curls beneath a stephane, with long strands falling behind the head. It is set in a possibly later gold ring with a broad, rounded hoop and an oval bezel. Size: D:14.68mm / US: 3 1/2 / UK: G 1/2; Weight: 6.8g Provenance: Private UK collection; formerly H.G. collection; acquired from A. Kotllar, Paris, French art market, 1970�2006. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
