HELLENISTIC GARNET CABOCHON IN OPENWORK GOLD RING

Ca. 200 BC. A deep red garnet cabochon mounted in a possibly later gold ring with a raised collet bezel encircled by granulation and an outer border of finely ribbed wire. The broad openwork hoop is composed of symmetrical arrangements of interlinked circular wire elements, embellished with applied granules and enclosed by beaded wire borders.
