Herkimer Diamond Ring / new- 2.28 g - (1)

Herkimer Diamond Ring / new Set in 925 sterling silver New and unworn 10.7 mm x 7.1 mm Weight: 2.28 g Ring size: U 54 - 55 (sits right between) UK N - O US 7.0 Fr 14 - 15 Inner diameter 17.35 mm Herkimer diamonds are double-point quartz crystals discovered in exposed dolomite outcrops in and around Herkimer County, New York, and in the Mohawk River Valley in the USA. They are not diamonds; the name "Diamond" owes to their clarity and well-formed faces. Since the first finds were in the village of Middleville or the town of Little Falls, the crystal is also called Middleville Diamond or Little Falls Diamond. Herkimer diamonds gained wide notoriety after workers in the late 18th century discovered them in large quantities during the mining of dolomite in the Mohawk River Valley. Geologists discovered exposed dolomite in the outcrops of Herkimer County and began mining there, which led to the designation "Herkimer Diamond". Twin-ended quartz crystals are found worldwide. Shipping as insured mail.
