Hermann Courtens (1884–1956) - Powerful impressionistic still life of flowers with roses in a green vase - Oil on canvas Description: A atmospheric, tender and expressive original oil painting by the renowned Belgian master Hermann Courtens (1884–1956). Courtens, trained at the Brussels Academy and later a prominent lecturer in Antwerp, comes from one of Belgium's most distinguished artist families (as son of Franz Courtens). His works are included in various museums in Antwerp and Bruges. This work shows a beautiful, almost faded bouquet of roses in a green vase, set in a warm color palette and a sumptuous realism with a precise, impressionistic touch. The work is clearly signed bottom left with the hand-written inscription "Hermann Courtens". The painting is supplied with the original, elegant gold-coloured ornate frame, which is in exceptionally beautiful condition. Dimensions: Including frame: 63 x 55 x 2 cm Weight: 5.0 kg Condition: The painting is in good, time-worn historical condition with light age-related signs of use on the canvas and minimal damage to the antique frame, which beautifully underlines the authentic character.
