An exceptional lot featuring one of the most celebrated Hermès carré scarves, historically significant in the entire history of the Hermès maison: "Les Clés" (Le Chiavi), designed by the legendary artist Caty Latham-Audibert and first introduced in 1965. This specific piece, in terms of graphic and print characteristics, can be traced to the highly sought-after vintage editions dating from the late 1960s to the early 1970s. The complex artistic composition unfolds around a central motif reproducing an 18th-century ceremonial velvet-and-silver bag, from which unfolds a magnificent radiating display of 47 antique keys. Each element faithfully reproduces real historical pieces (including the precious keys of the majordomos of European courts) that were part of Émile Hermès' famous private collection. Details of Authenticity and Collectibility: • Vintage Marking: Presence of the very rare logo "HERMÈS PARIS" enclosed in the distinctive linear rectangular cartouche, an exclusive graphic transition of this specific historical period. • Original Layout: The scarf adheres to the pure design of the era; it does not bear the textual title wording "Les Clés," which was only introduced in some later modern reissues. • Lyonnais Manufacturing Excellence: Printed on a substantial heavy silk twill with the traditional hand screen printing in a checkered pattern. The extraordinary depth of color penetration and saturation on the back of the scarf (nearly mirror-like to the front) testifies to the exceptionally high craftsmanship standard of the period. • Finishes: Rolled and hand-sewn perimeter hem toward the front, in keeping with the historic Hermès tradition. A splendid opportunity for collectors to acquire a timeless textile art piece, in a neutral, elegant color variant and extremely rare on the luxury vintage market.
