High Quality Bracelet With Diamonds & Citrine, Art Deco Around 1930 And Later

Jewellery, like other decorative accessories, is always subject to fashion. What is highly fashionable today, appears old-fashioned only a short time later. A dilemma, however, when the object that has become unfashionable is a precious item that was expensive to purchase. What to do? Often, when fashions change, jewels do not meet a favorable fate and the expensive gemstones are set differently, but the original goldsmith's work is melted down. Sometimes the reshaping is more subtle, as with this bracelet. A sunny yellow citrine in a stretched scissor cut forms the focal point of the piece of jewellery here. 180 diamonds weighing a combined total of about 3.72 carats cover the links, made entirely of platinum, which are hinged together to hold the magnificent centerpiece. At first glance, one thinks: a wonderful bracelet of the years around 1930, an exemplary jewel of Art Deco! But when you look closely, you realize that the diamond-studded bracelet with its beautiful gems began its life as a wristwatch. In later times, presumably when its wearer could no longer read the all-too-small dial, or when large watches became fashionable and replaced the small ones, the new center stone was cut to fit and now blends perfectly into the jewelled piece. With its cool, elegant, geometric design language and its wonderful details of finely worked volumes, its surface with delicate milgrain settings and the lavish luxury of its many diamonds, the piece of jewellery is a contemporary witness from the heyday of Art Deco and, with its interesting history of remodeling, is a reminder of the rapid course of changing fashions. Due to its length of about 16 centimeters, it is more suitable for a narrow wrist. We have had a detailed certificate done that accurately describes all the materials and their qualities. To us found the wonderful piece of jewellery in London.
