An oval, dark blue sapphire, held by four chatons, is the centerpiece of this ring from the 1970s. Fine diamonds, mostly of flawless quality and pure white in color, line the blue stone all around and frame it to great effect. The simple ring band swings out to different sides towards the ring face and also features small brilliant-cut diamonds on the upper part. The side view reveals the fine craftsmanship with which the ring was forged, as countless small bars hold the setting and form a shiny, airy fan. Jewellery from the 1960s and 1970s is characterized by optimism and a belief in progress. After the organic shapes of the 1950s, a new desire for geometry returned in the age of the race to the moon. Rings, bracelets, necklaces, earrings - the color of the time was once again white, like the stars, often combined with blue, like the night sky. The filigree structures of space equipment, the antennas of Sputnik, but also the skeletal structures of the new skyscrapers may have been the inspiration here. It was not for nothing that a brooch with the name "Kosmos" won the prize for the jewel of the year in 1967. This ring also embodies this futuristic taste. It subtly modernizes the classic entourage motif, creating a ring with a modernist twist that came to us from the south of Germany. It is in very good condition and comes with a detailed appraisal.
