Brand and model information Hilton Watch Co. was an American company based in New York (founded in 1946), specialized in distribution and marketing of watches. It did not manufacture the movements directly: it used Swiss calibres (often A. Schild / AS, Peseux or similar, typically 17 jewels) and cases of various origins (including Hong Kong). The watches were often labeled “Swiss Made.” In the 1960s the company ran into problems with the American FTC over marketing claims deemed misleading (e.g., jewel count or “Swiss Made”). The model in question belongs to the Mystery Dial (or “Floating Hands”) family, a genre of watches in which the “hands” appear to float in mid-air. They are actually small transparent discs with stones (here faux diamonds) mounted on invisible toothed discs driven by the movement. It’s a theatrical design typical of the mid-century period, inspired by older concepts (Robert-Houdin and later interpretations by houses such as Cartier or Hamilton). The silvered dial features diamond-style baguette applied indexes and the signature “HILTON.” Caseback in steel with the classic engraving “STAINLESS STEEL BACK SWISS MADE.” Stainless steel case with signs of wear consistent with age.
