ice work by W. Markestein. Often cited under the pseudonym Aris Knikker. In good condition. After the First World War, there was a great demand for the paintings of the two Knikkers, and when they one day came into contact with the Welther brothers, these two art traveling merchants became their largest customers. The Welthers soon did good business, and the Knikkers repainted painting after painting. Since there would otherwise be too many Knikkers in circulation at a given moment, the Welthers proposed signing under other names as well, which would stimulate sales again. Thus Aris Knikker worked under the names W. Markestein and H. Endlich.
