HONG KONG (SAR). Hong Kong & Shanghai Banking Corporation. 50 Dollars

Four Serial Numbers on One Note! HONG KONG (SAR). Hong Kong & Shanghai Banking Corporation. 50 Dollars, 31.3.1980. P-184g. KNB72i. Serial Number Error. PMG Gem Uncirculated 66 EPQ. W suffix. A very unusual error, which shows two different serial numbers printed on top of each other. The two serial numbers are 413201 and 416909, and it is difficult to determine which number was printed first. Serial number errors are, on the whole, relatively common but can be separated into dropped digits, mismatched left and right serials, faded digits, etc. However, errors are as overprints (such as this) and duplicate normal serial numbers on two notes are exceedingly rare. The only comparable note that we've handled in the past was a Government of Hong Kong 10 Dollars, which we sold in October 2025 for $1800, including the Buyer's Premium. The cataloguer feels this note should fetch a higher price owing to its relative rarity and stronger vintage. Estimate: $1,000 - $1,500. Provenance: From the Grass Unweeded Collection.

Estimate:£378.37
