"Reinforced Concrete" – From the street to your home The new cycle of works by IABO plays on the double meaning of the title: "Reinforced Concrete", which, crossing out the "R", becomes "Concrete Loved". A pun that transforms the idea of solidity and durability of concrete into an emotional bond with the material and the artist's journey. The choice to paint on cement panels is not accidental but deeply symbolic. Those who know IABO know that his artistic path began in the ’90s as a graffiti writer and metropolitan writer, then established himself, from 2003, as one of the first Neapolitan street artists. In the following years, his work shifted from the street to the canvas, entering the world of contemporary art. With over 100 exhibitions worldwide – across museums, galleries, and public and private spaces – IABO has solidified a unique and recognizable language. With "Reinforced Concrete", the artist returns to his origins, paying homage to his past as a writer when he painted on the city’s concrete walls. This project rekindles the most authentic, raw, and lived urban aesthetics, restoring that metropolitan flavor that characterizes street art. The protagonists of these works are his famous "profiles", a series of reinvented characters with his distinctive stroke. The works are created with stencils and spray cans and, although the subjects repeat, each piece is unique, thanks to the different textures and irregularities of the cement. Moreover, IABO uses stencils with a "lost shape" that cannot be reused, making every creation one-of-a-kind. The pieces are already framed with a mounting system, creating a floating effect and highlighting the cement’s materiality.
