Vintage German crystal ice bucket / candy basket with 835 silver hinge – Christoph Bach (Handarbeit) A stylish Mid-Century Modern tabletop piece, executed in heavy, thick-walled crystal glass with a horizontal ribbed appearance and a solid 835 silver swivel hinge. Thanks to its compact size, this object is versatile: perfect as a luxurious ice bucket for the bar cart or cocktail table, but equally suitable as a candy basket (Konfektschale). The silver hinge is hand-forged and bears the German imperial hallmark (half moon and crown), the silver fineness 835, the designation HANDARBEIT, and the master mark of the renowned silversmith workshop Christoph Bach (Ellmendingen/Pforzheim). The solid ball knobs of the hinge fittings are also marked 835. Specifications: Object: Ice bucket / candy basket with a movable hinge. Material: Thick-walled crystal glass and solid second-quality silver (835/1000). Origin: Germany. Maker: Christoph Bach, Ellmendingen/Pforzheim (master mark CB). Period: About 1950 – 1960 (Mid-Century Modern). Hallmarks on hinge: Half moon and crown, 835, master mark CB, HANDARBEIT. Hallmarks on mount: 835 on the screw knobs. Diameter: 11 cm. Crystal height: 10 cm. Total height (with hinge raised): 17 cm. Condition In excellent vintage condition. The crystal is pristine: no chips, nicks, or stress cracks around the screw holes. The silver hinge closes neatly, swivels smoothly, and is in fine condition with light, age-appropriate signs of use.
