Ancient Russian icon "Festive Days/Holidays" from the 19th century (circa 1880). Hand-painted with egg tempera colors on a wooden panel with chalk ground. Typical method of icon production in the 18th and 19th centuries in Tsarist Russia. The motif is widespread and very popular in the Orthodox Church. This is an Old Believer icon. The painting is kept quite simple (see photos). Perfectly harmonized color contrasts and successful shading. The painting contains very authentic crazing (see photos). Partial restorations are present (see photos). The icon and biblical scenes are labeled. The inscriptions are easily readable. The icon was probably created around 1850-1880. On the back there are two cross-bars installed. Sturdy and solid wooden panel. The icon is in good condition with typical age-related signs of wear (see photos). The icon is slightly curved. An icon for collectors and connoisseurs of the subject. All details are clearly readable in the photos. Photos are part of the description. Dimensions: 31x27x2 cm
