Impressive Pendant With 128.15 ct Emerald in Gold, Circa 1980

A greeting from a distant, exotic world - that is the impression created by this pendant from around 1980. At its center rests an emerald of monumental size, cut into an impressive cabochon and with a weight of 128.15 ct of overwhelming presence. The light green of the gemstone is reminiscent of the endless canopy of a jungle after a tropical rain. Fine growth lines and natural inclusions run through the stone - they form the characteristic "jardin", the garden of the emerald. It does not reflect the light harshly, but allows it to flow through the stone in a gentle shimmer. In this way, the emerald seems to have an inner life that constantly reveals itself anew to the observer's gaze. The gemstone is set simply yet powerfully in 14-karat gold, which gives it a warm, timeless frame and also allows its back to be seen. Six prongs hold the high cabochon like a dome. The clear shape draws the eye to the green depth of the stone and emphasizes its extraordinary size. A piece of jewellery that captivates less through decorative additions than through the sheer impact of a single gemstone - created to tell stories of distant landscapes, ancient earth and the mysterious power of nature.
