In the Splendor of Summer by Gary Westall Painting 9.5 x 11.8 :: his painting was created en plein air during the annual plein air event in K?opotowo Poland. I painted it on a dirt road leading to the Parseta River. On that hot summer day my gaze fell on the grasses along the roadside. In the intense midday sun they glowed in warm shades of orange and gold as if they were ablaze. This fleeting moment of light color and heat fascinated me so much that I wanted to capture it on canvas immediately. The bright path leading through the summer landscape toward the river invites the viewer to follow it in their mind’s eye. With this painting I wanted not only to capture the beauty of nature around the Pars?ta River but also to convey the feeling of a warm summer day when the air shimmers the light transforms the landscape and even the grass seems to glow.
