In the Wake of the Wind - Gary Westall

In the Wake of the Wind by Gary Westall Painting 9.5 x 11.8 :: This painting was created during a plein air painting day in the countryside near Houstrup on the Danish west coast. I had originally planned to paint in the dunes but strong gusts of wind knocked my easel over several times. Eventually I found a more sheltered spot by a small lake where I painted this piece. The light-colored sandy path leads through heathland and low vegetation toward the tranquil lake. The changing light the vast sky and the wind-swept landscape set the mood of the painting. It is a vivid painterly memory of a day when nature had a significant influence on the painting process. Signed lower left.
