Ca. AD 18001900 An Indian kulunk war hammer comprising a long wooden haft mounted with a finely worked steel head of asymmetrical form. The head is further embellished with gold koftgari ornament of floral and geometric design, repeated on the upper finial and on the steel mounts at the upper and lower ends of the shaft. The haft is of dark wood, creating a strong contrast with the bright metallic fittings. The surfaces display areas of wear and minor oxidation consistent with age.
