Inland Fog - Newel Hunter

Inland Fog by Newel Hunter Painting 20.0 x 16.0 :: This painting presents a striking interplay of vertical strokes in various shades of black white and gray creating a textured layered effect that draws the eye across the canvas. The brushwork is both deliberate and spontaneous with a rhythm that suggests movement and depth. The darker areas contrast sharply with the lighter more transparent sections allowing the composition to breathe despite its abstract nature. The small red dot near the upper right corner adds a compelling focal point breaking the monochromatic palette with a bold note of color that introduces tension and curiosity. The piece is all about contrast and texture. The vertical lines provide structure and continuity while the varying opacity and intensity evoke a sense of urban landscapes or natural forms abstracted to their essence. The minimal color and expressive brushwork is meant to evoke emotions ranging from contemplation to intrigue. Relax. It’s a foggy day.
